By employing the term queer to connote what is odd, strange, out of place, as well as that which exists outside of heterosexuality, the works of 'in plain sight' chart my personal queer history and shifting identity by investigating coming of age narratives that have shaped my understanding of and feelings toward queer and lesbian identity. Through the defamiliarization of well known symbols and objects, the highlighting of mainstream media representations of lesbian narratives, and the intervention made by queer bodies, in plain sight brings to light the queer potentiality that is ever present but often overlooked in the world around us, and ponders what exactly it is to feel queer.
